I was fortunate enough to get my hands on this board as a free trial, and it only took one ride to convince me that this one was a keeper. As a bigger surfer, I'm picky about what I ride on. I've tested many a long, wide board and have never found a worthwhile replacement for trusty Charlie -- but Charlie is starting to show his years in wear and tear, and this Marsh Mellow came along at just the right time. She's of comparable surface area to many boards built for larger surfers, but much lighter in the hands and more buoyant on the water. This coupled with her sharper rails makes for a board that is capable of supporting more weight without sacrificing maneuverability. I found myself moving on the water in a way I had never expected, and yet it didn't take long to get dialed in to the way this board grooves. She'll be a gentle teacher for those just learning how to explore the wave's surface, and more experienced surfers can enjoy a flexibility they might not have expected from a board this size.
The Ronix Marsh Mellow could afford another inch or so in width, but overall this is a great board for intermediate riders who have mastered their balance and are ready to start carving up the water.
